There was a link in the post to the Wordpress site, showing you a list of hosting company suggestions. Here it is a again : http://wordpress.org/hosting/

If you check through some of those (and they are by means not the only ones), you'll see you can host in the US for under $10 per month, (under £6 by current exchange rates).  There is nothing wrong with hosting your blog in the States. But if you look around you'll also find UK companies with low cost hosting too.</description>
